PUBG Mobile caps in-game names at 14 characters. That is two more than Free Fire, and those two characters are exactly what a frame costs — ꧁ and ꧂ are one character each. So a five-letter name plus a full bracket frame fits in PUBG and does not fit in Free Fire. The counter on every row here counts real characters, including the invisible marks that decorated styles add, so what you see is what the game will accept.

This trips people up constantly. The clan tag is set inside the clan menu by the clan leader, not in your profile, and it is capped separately at five characters. It appears in square brackets in front of your name in the kill feed, which means your styled name and the tag are read together and the pair gets cramped fast. If your clan already has a long tag, keep your own name short and plain — two heavily styled elements side by side are unreadable at kill-feed size.

PUBG renders names in its own font, and that font does not cover every Unicode block. Blackletter, small caps, double-struck and monospace come through cleanly on both Android and iOS. Squared and circled letters render but are wide, so they eat your character budget visually as well as numerically. Styles that stack marks above and below letters are the ones to avoid: the game clips the marks, and you end up with a name that looks broken rather than styled.

Changing your PUBG Mobile name needs a Rename Card, which costs 180 UC or turns up in events and crate rewards. Because it is not free, paste your chosen name into a notes app and look at it once before you commit. A name that reads well at 24px in a browser can be illegible at the size it appears above a player in a match, and the kill feed is smaller still.
